What is LB Artworks?
Welcome to LB Artworks. My name is Luis Borruel, and this website holds my artistic activities, as well as a tribute to my father.
Art, science and software coalesced in my path. For more than 25 years I have been doing photography. During these years I was lucky to witness amazing places and bring some of those memories as pictures to you: landscapes, textures, details and street photography. My first website was hosted at pbase, maybe only remembered by the dinosaurs of internet photography. From there I decided to host it myself in 2018 using WordPress. That was a lot of work but a lot of fun. I wrote a tutorial on how to do it a while ago; now I think the internet provides enough material for anyone entering that path.
After the summer of 2021 I started experimenting with algorithmic art and reshuffling algorithms. At that time I started to mature the idea of launching NFT collections about my pictures, the aquarelles of my father (may he rest in peace) and generative art. An impossible coincidence — you can see my TEDx talk — pushed me right into that direction. In 2024 I worked for months on the algorithmic part, on a journey I describe in one of the blog posts.
In June 2022 I started OpenVGal, an open-source project to create a 3D virtual gallery experience in a web browser. There were some commercial solutions but nothing allowing me, or any artist, to own their art. That has been a journey still in development.

LB Artworks is also a tribute to my father, the greatest artist. Unfortunately he developed most of his career in times when not everything was recorded, and we had not developed a proper sense of legacy before he left us.
Luckily we have his artwork. Many thanks to Carlos Gimeno Meta for compiling on his webpage some of the live demonstrations he gave during his time at AEDA (Spanish Association of Aquarelle Painters).
