Although I always prioritize color, black and white strips everything down. No colors to hide behind, no distractions. Just light, shadow, shape, and texture. Almost endless possibilities for contrast. It’s raw, unforgiving — if the frame doesn’t work, you see it right away.

But that’s also why it lasts. Black and white lets you focus on what matters: the mood of a face, the structure of a street, the weight of a landscape.

When it works, a black and white photo feels sharper than reality. Cleaner, simpler, and somehow more true.
